      You’d think so, wouldn’t you?

      In fact there were asphalt roads and paths in the 1890s. None in rural areas but some in towns and cities.
      London had asphalt roads in 1870s. Washington DC had them in the 1880s.
      Not as good as the one pictured, mind.

    Was thinking about my next bicycle project and these photos have persuaded me to do a ‘porteur’ style of that era. Absolutely love their outfits!
